What does former Chief of Army Staff Gen (retd) Qamar Javed Bajwa himself say about the allegation that he asked a former Chief Justice to legalise chairman PTI Imran Khan's Bani Gala residence?
On Tuesday (Dec 27), Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s Adviser Malik Ahmad Khan claimed that PTI chief was the only individual who received an NRO from Gen (retd) Bajwa.
Speaking to a private news channel, he had claimed that the former COAS had asked then-Chief Justice Saqib Nisar to regularise Imran Khan’s palatial Bani Gala residence, adding he had “all the evidence to prove it”.
It was the same case wherein the former premier was declared sadiq (truthful) and ameen (righteous) as per the Article 260 of the Constitution.
According to journalist Ansar Abbasi, former Chief Justice Justice Saqib Nisar categorically denied such an occurrence when asked about it. He swore that the said claim was a lie, utter rubbish, and far from reality.
Abbasi added that when he spoke to those close to Gen (retd) Bajwa, they denied his direct contact with ex-CJP or judiciary, but said that he did have an NRO granted to Imran Khan via an intelligence agency chief to save him from disqualification.
The journalist termed lack of a probe into the claim unfortunate, despite Malik Ahmed Khan saying that he had the evidence to prove it.
