The nomination papers of deposed prime minister Nawaz Sharif have been accepted from NA-130 Lahore.
This means that Nawaz, who has thrice been elected as prime minister of the country, stands a chance to be elected into parliament and the opportunity to be elected as the prime minister for a fourth time.
Meanwhile, the nomination papers of former Punjab health minister and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Yasmeen Rashid were rejected in the same constituency.
Nawaz had submitted his nomination papers for NA-130 on a Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) ticket.
No one filed an objection to Nawaz submitting nomination papers. Thus, the constituency's returning officer approved his papers.
Separately, the nomination papers of former prime minister and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) President Shehbaz Sharif were accepted from Karachi's NA-242 after he cleared the scrutiny process.
