A protest meeting was held in Chitral on Tuesday against the recent brutal murder of a woman in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa's Lower Dir district.
The consultation took place under the auspices of Tehreek Tahafuz Chitral, presided over by Alhaj Eid-ul- Hussain.
Yasmin Bibi, 30, was killed with an axe in Rabat. She had moved to the area after getting married. She has left four young children behind.
Addressing the meeting, the speakers lamented the fact that a daughter of Chitral had to undergo such brutality, and was killed in her own home.
The participants thanked Rabat police for arresting the accused in a timely manner. They appealed to theChief Justice of Peshawar High Court to give severe punishment to the murderer so as to set an example for others.
On the occasion, some political leaders expressed concerns on the acquittal of SSP Rao Anwar of Karachi in the Naqeebullah Mehsud murder case.
Former president of Trade Union, Shabbir Ahmed, Sharif Hussain, Naeem Anjum, President of Awami National Party Chitral, Sifat Zareen, leader of PML-N, Maulana Israruddin Al-Hilal, Noor Ahmad, and members of the civil society attended the public meeting.
Earlier, Khal police told The Friday Times that an FIR of the murder had been filed with the statement of the victim.
