Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairperson Imran Khan has denied seeking assistance from business tycoon Malik Riaz for a 'patch up' with Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Co-chair Asif Zardari, terming the leaked audio clip of a conversation between Riaz and Zardari 'fake'.
Khan gave this refutal while speaking to journalists in Peshawar today (Tuesday), following the leaked audio clip of an alleged telephonic conversation between Malik Riaz and Asif Ali Zardari.
In the clip, Riaz can be purportedly conveying Imran Khan’s message seeking a ‘patch-up’ with Zardari. The former president tells Riaz that it is 'impossible' now, and Riaz says he was just letting Zardari know.
The PTI chairman reiterated his claims that he had not made a deal with anyone and that he had called off the long march on May 26 to avoid bloodshed as chaos took over Islamabad.
He said that for the last 26 years, he has been saying that Zardari and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) are the same.
Khan also claimed that during his time in government, there was a lot of pressure on him to accept Israel as a sovereign state, especially while the Abraham Accords were being signed.
"We were sent a message that you should think about your country [...] but at this time, I cannot reveal who had sent the message to us," the ousted prime minister said.
Khan said that a powerful lobby group influenced by the US wanted Muslim states to recognize Israel.
Previously on Monday, Israeli President confirmed that he recently met a delegation of Pakistani expats, terming it an ‘amazing experience’.
Meanwhile, the Foreign Office has categorically rejected the notion of any official delegation from Pakistan visiting Israel.
