The FIR filed against the wife of a civil judge in the torture case of a 13-year-old domestic worker now includes eight more provisions of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC), according to the capital police.
According to capital police officers, Section 324 (attempted murder) was added to the FIR in response to the victim's father's testimony, which was submitted to the police file through a case diary on July 26.
In response to the medico-legal certificate (MLC) provided by the DHQ Teaching Hospital Sargodha, the remaining seven sections were added to the FIR. A police team deployed to Sargodha produced the MLC, which had been added to the police file on July 29 by way of a case diary and a supplemental statement.
The seven new parts are 337-A (i) (shajjah-i-khafifah), which refers to injuries caused by any weapon to the head or face without exposing the victim's bones; Injured by any weapon on the head or face when a bone is exposed but no fracture is induced, according to Islamic law. 337-A (ii), 337-A (iii) (shajjah-i-hashimah): severe injury from any weapon to the head or face that causes the victim's bone to break without dislocating it, The injuries 337-F (i) (Damihah), 337-F (v) (Hashimah), 337-L (ii) (punishment for other pain), and 334 (Itlaf-Udw) to destroy a limb or organ all include rupturing the skin and causing blood.
According to the officers, the sections were added to the case while taking into account the evidence that the police had obtained from the MLC. According to them, the police were also thinking of including the case under the Prevention of Trafficking in Persons Act 2018 Section 3(b) (compelled work).
As fresh evidence and statements are obtained by the police, further parts of the pertinent law may also be added to the case, according to the officials.
