Another Strike: Police Raid Parvez Elahi's Gujrat Residence
Nearly two days after conducting a similar operation at his residence in Lahore, police conducted a late-night raid on Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Punjab President Chaudhry Parvez Elahi's Gujrat residence.

While the anti-corruption department, which was involved in the Lahore raid, denied any involvement, saying police briefly searched Elahi’s residence in Gujrat, Kunjah House.

Twelve people, largely his workers, were taken into custody during the Friday night raid by anti-corruption and police authorities, who used an armored truck to smash open the PTI president's Gulberg home's main gate.

The police action occurs barely hours before the PTI and the multi-party ruling coalition have important discussions on elections. The opposition party had previously issued a warning that if the arrests and raids continued, the negotiations might fail.

Pervez Elahi’s son, Moonis Elahi, said that despite the police lacking a search warrant to perform the raid, he gave them permission to enter the property.

Moonis told journalists that the Punjab Police had previously searched his father's home in a similar manner. According to sources, the area had been blocked off before the raid by officers from six to seven different police stations.

However, according to reports, the policemen jumped over the walls to enter the house. They stated that after knocking on the door repeatedly and getting no response, they were forced to enter the house.

Both the purpose of the raid and any evidence so far discovered at the home have not been made public by the authorities. However, according to the police, the person they were looking for wasn't at the house.

Three of the home's staff were temporarily held by the police during the search for the purpose of questioning.

After thoroughly searching the home of the PTI president, police forces lifted the siege of Kunjah House. The cops allegedly searched every room in the home and constantly questioned Elahi, who wasn't home at the time of the search.

Since the raid was a police-only operation, the Anti-Corruption Establishment of Punjab has distanced itself from it.

The police moved to Chaudhry Wajahat Hussain's home after the search at Kunjah House, where they remained but didn't make any arrests.

Police sources claim that throughout the search, questions about Elahi were asked of the domestic workers.
