An accountability court on Monday granted pre-arrest bail to Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan's wife and former first lady, Bushra Bibi, in the £190 million case.
The development comes after a two-member Islamabad High Court (IHC) bench, comprised of Chief Justice Aamer Farooq and Justice Tariq Mehmood Jahangiri, accepted Khan's bail application in the case in May.
Imran Khan, Bushra Bibi, and other PTI leaders are facing a NAB investigation over a settlement between the PTI government and a property tycoon that reportedly cost the national exchequer £190 million.
The couple, on the other hand, remains in prison as a result of the iddat case and is unlikely to be released after a district and session court denied their petition to have their sentences suspended.
During today's hearing, the NAB produced three additional witnesses, who were cross-examined by the defense lawyers.
So far, 30 witnesses' statements have been recorded in the case, with 27 going through cross-examination.
The accountability watchdog's lawyer also informed the court that the former first lady's arrest warrant had not yet been issued.
The court then summoned additional witnesses for the next hearing, adjourning the matter until July 5.
