Chinese girl visiting Facebook friend arrested in Multan


Reported in Express (September 24, 2015) a Chinese girl who came all the way to Multan to meet her Facebook friend was arrested by the police. She was visiting a shopping mall without security. The boy she was visiting has also been arrested, but the police did not confirm the arrest.

Policeman kills 60 goats in anger 


According to Jang (September 24, 2015) a policeman drove an entire flock of 60 goats in front of a train in anger (taish main aa kar), after their owner declined to sell some of the animals to him on a discount. All the goats were hit by the Pakistan Express train and killed.

Dar stopped from speaking before Eid prayer in New York


Pakistanis at a mosque in New York stopped Finance Minister Ishaq Dar when he rose to speak before the Eid prayer, Dunya reports (September 25, 2015). They made noise and shouted slogans against him, also chanting ‘Go Nawaz Go’. The men turned out to be PTI workers. PML-N supporters in the mosque chanted slogans in favor of the Pakistan government.

Men dress as women to enter Makkah for Hajj 


According to Nawa-e-Waqt (September 25, 2015) Makkah police stopped 123,950 people from entering the city illegally for Hajj. Some of them were men wearing women’s clothes. They also caught five fake Hajj officers.

Free Hajj for civil-aviation journalists


According to Jang (September 28, 2015) six journalists who cover civil aviation affairs went on Hajj for free on the quota of government-employed helpers of the pilgrims. PIA paid for the trip.

Boy using mobile phone falls down from flyover


Reported in Jang (September 28, 2015) a boy riding a motorcycle fell down from the flyover near Minar-e-Pakistan when he lost balance because he was using his mobile phone. He was seriously wounded.

Man selling overpriced milk can’t run for local council 


A candidate for local council in Gujranwala fell unconscious when a scrutiny officer rejected his nomination papers for selling overpriced milk, Nawa-e-Waqt reports (September 29, 2015). When he told the officer he was a milk seller, the officer asked him the rate.  He said he sold it for Rs 80, which is higher than the rate fixed by the government.

Election candidate arrested after posing with Kalashnikov 


Express reports (September 30, 2015) a PTI candidate for local council in Gujrat was arrested after he posed with a Kalashnikov in a Facebook photograph. The unlicensed gun was also seized.

Sit-in in front of Chaudhry Sarwar’s car 


Reported in Jang (September 30, 2015) two candidates who were denied a PTI ticket for local council elections staged a sit-in in front of Chaudhry Sarwar’s car. The former governor didn’t get out of the vehicle. The candidates said Imran Khan had ordered them to give sit-ins for all the right causes.

Local council candidates become pious ahead of polls


According to Dunya (October 1, 2015) candidates running for local council in Lahore have started praying in mosques, and apologizing to relatives and neighbors who were angry with them.
