Malik Adnan, the man who tried to save Sri Lankan citizen Priyantha Kumara from a mob that later lynched him, has dedicated the award of appreciation he received from Prime Minister Imran Khan to Priyantha and the Sri Lankan people. He urged the nation to always stand against the oppressors and support the oppressed
While talking to the media, during a condolence gathering held in the memory of the deceased Sri Lankan, Adnan said that he wanted to save Priyantha because he feared that an incident might happen which would tarnish the image of Pakistan. He added that the mob also wanted to cause damage to the factory building.
While answering a question about Priyantha’s personality and work ethic, Adnan said that the former always followed all the rules and regulations. Adnan contradicted the rumors that Priyantha was a harsh manager, who treated the workers strictly.
He said that “my message to the nation is to always stand with the oppressed and against the oppressor”. He added that this incident may well turn out to be a turning point for Pakistan, changing the way we think as a nation.
The PM, on Tuesday, awarded a certificate of appreciation to Malik Adnan. While praising Adnan’s courage, the premier said that role models were needed in a country for the youth to follow and Adnan had set an example for others to follow.
The premier added that Adnan had displayed moral courage, in trying to save a fellow human being’s life, which is much greater than physical courage. The PM further said that people would remember Adnan as the man who stood up against monsters.
