Six people including four young children were injured as a resulting of a stabbing in France near the Lake Annecy, Interior Minister Gérald Darmanin said on Thursday.
According to the minister, police managed to overpower the attacker after shooting him in the legs as he attempted to flee.
Reports suggest that the minors were aged about three years, and two of those attacked are stated to be in a critical condition after the stabbing in France.
The suspect is believed to be a Syrian refugee, some of the reports quoting police sources said about the stabbing in France.
He attacked the children who were on a visit to the park, and stabbed an elderly man on his way out of the park.
One of the officials said that a probe into the incident has been initiated, saying the authorities know little about the attacker as of now.

An eyewitness said she "knew something horrible had happened" as she approached the lake.
"People were going about their business or on their holiday, as I was, and it's just shocking. I have no other way of describing it," she expressed.
Meanwhile, President Emmanuel Macron tweeted that the nation was in "shock" over the "act of cowardice", adding "It's crazy to have this in Annecy".
He also reportedly said that the police response was delayed in shooting the man carrying a knife, as he referred to the stabbing in France.
Suspect
One of the suspects, who is currently believed to be in police custody, is aged 32 and has Syrian papers of identification.
He is said to be an asylum seeker in the country, who currently had a refugee status. Police also said that the attacker who was detained from the scene of the incident has no prior criminal history.
The law enforcers are carrying out further checks on the man to determine the motive of the attack. The presence of national police instead of terrorism investigators is currently seen at the attack site.
