The crucial National Assembly session which would decide the fate of Prime Minister Imran Khan by voting on the no-trust motion against him is facing delay as the government as well as Speaker Asad Qaiser insist on a debate on the alleged 'foreign conspiracy'. According to reports, the voting on the motion will now take place at 8 PM, after the session was adjourned till 12.30 by the speaker. The session that was adjourned till 12.30 has now begin after a delay of more than two hours. The government and opposition reportedly held talks after which they agreed not to disrupt each other's speeches.
Pakistan Muslim League - N (PML-N) leaders have however denied entering into an agreement with the government.
Earlier in the day, after Leader of the opposition Shehbaz Sharif's speech calling on the speaker not to delay the process, Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi spoke about the alleged conspiracy by an international power to oust Imran Khan. The speaker then adjourned the session till 12.20 PM, but it is yet to resume.
Earlier, Speaker Asad Qaiser had said that he would follow the SC verdict, but added that a debate on the 'foreign conspiracy' will also take place.
The session began at 10.30 AM sharp, as per the Supreme Court order. Prime Minister Imran Khan remained absent from the session, despite his promise to 'fight till the last ball'.
