On Monday a private security guard was arrested for violently beating a woman into unconsciousness in the Gulistan-e-Jauhar area of Karachi.
Earlier, a video of the incident went viral on social media. In the video, the private security guard, identified as Daud, can be seen talking to a woman. He seems to get angry and slaps the woman hard enough for her to fall to the ground. The guard proceeds to kick the woman’s face as she lays unconscious on the ground.
Subsequently, Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah took notice of the incident.
Later, the police arrested the security guard and registered a first information report (FIR) against him on the complaint of the victim under different sections of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC).
According to Geo News, the woman, identified as Sana, said in the FIR that she works as a maid at Noman Grand City in Gulistan-e-Jauhar.
“At 3am on August 5, I asked my son, Sohail, to deliver food. However, when he tried to enter the apartment's premises, the union's office-bearers — Abdul Nasir, Adil Khan, and Mahmood Khalil — prohibited him from entering. When I came down to inquire, Adil got angry and started abusing me. Then, he asked the security guard to beat me. I am 5-6 months pregnant. When he hit me, I became unconscious due to the pain," she added in the FIR.
