Protests After Journalist Gunned Down By Unidentified Assailant In Khairpur
A journalist was murdered by an unidentified man in the Ahmedpur area of Khairpur earlier this week, police said.

A police spokesperson said that an unidentified shot at journalist Ghulam Asghar Khund when he was returning home from the local press club. Khund worked for Dharti Television.

It is pertinent to note that Khund's brother, Mushtaq, was killed a few years ago.

Subsequently, on Tuesday, journalists at the Kharipur Press Club staged a protest over Khund's murder.

They demanded that the government and police arrest the culprits and bring them to book.

Earlier, Imtiaz Baig, a reporter for the Samaa television channel, was assassinated by unidentified armed men in Jhelum.

Police detailed that unidentified persons attacked Baig with batons when he came out of a local mosque after offering prayers. The attackers fled from the scene after attacking the reporter, police said.

Local media reports suggested that the senior journalist's body was shifted to the district hospital.

Police launched an investigation to ascertain who the attackers were and whether they had attacked Baig for his work or out of personal enmity.
