Palestinian Journalists Under Fire | Over 100 Targeted | Urgent Global Action Needed

Host Rabia Mehmood is joined by Shuruq As'ad, a senior journalist based in Jerusalem and the representative and spokesperson of the Palestinian Journalist Syndicate, also serving in the journalist secretariat of Palestine.

In response to a global urgent appeal from the PJS for international solidarity, Shuruq elaborates on the alarming situation faced by Palestinian journalists in Gaza, the West Bank, and Jerusalem. She discusses the brutal attacks on journalists in Gaza, assaults on their families, targeting of journalists outside Gaza, profiling, violence against them, as well as arbitrary detentions.

Continuing the tragic narrative of Palestine, marked by indiscriminate killings by Israel and grave human rights violations, thousands, including children, professionals, and humanitarian workers, are losing their lives. Shockingly, there is also a systematic and deliberate targeting of journalists.

A statement from the Community to Protect Journalists emphasizes the unparalleled nature of the targeting of journalists and their families in Gaza, with the number of cases surpassing 100.
