Guns blazing

Special Assistant to the PM Firdous Ashiq Awan was quoted by Daily Express (01 April 2020) as saying that opposition leader Shehbaz Sharif had trained his guns on the government as soon as he returned to the country (Shehbaz ne mulk wapis aatay hee towpon ka rukh hakumat ki taraf kar diya). She went on to state that the government had from the first day made it clear that everyone had to fight the Coronvirus together, and that any politics on this matter should be quarantined (iss maslay per siyasat ko Qarantina kar dein).

Indulgences for their sins

Fayyaz-ul-Hassan Chohan, according to Daily Dunya (05 April 2020), is of the view that PM Imran Khan understands the pain of the poor and marginalized classes and is offering them relief through welfare programmes. He went on to opine that this is an opportunity for the PML-N to atone for its looting of the people by serving them now (awami khidmat kar ke apni loot maar ka kaffara ada karay).

They have only to ask

Daily Dunya (05 April 2020) reported that US President Donald Trump had offered Iran assistance in dealing with the Coronavirus pandemic. He was quoted as saying that if the Iranians asked for help, it would be his moral responsibility to help despite sanctions against that country, but that there had been no request for help so far.

Right back at them?

Marriyum Aurangzeb of the PML-N was quoted by Daily Jang (05 April 2020) as expressing her view that with the support and help of PM Imran Khan (sarparasti aur madad se), Jahangir Tareen, Khusro Bakhtiar and other supporters’ companies had been smuggling sugar. She opined that those who had been calling others thieves turned out to be thieves of wheat and sugar themselves (doosron ko chor kehnay walay khud aata, cheeni chor niklay).
