Eminent Writer, Poet Amjad Islam Amjad Passes Away At 78
Iconic Urdu play writer, poet, and lyricist Amjad Islam Amjad has passed away at the age of 78 years.

Amjad Islam Amjad suffered a cardiac arrest on Friday morning and he was rushed to a hospital where he breathed his last, said his family.

He has written more than 40 books in a career spanning 50 years, he has received many awards for his literary work and screenplay for television, including Pride of Performance and Sitara-e-Imtiaz.

Born on August 4, 1944, he enjoyed a vast following and admiration among literature lovers.

Some of his plays, dramatized by Pakistan Television (PTV) and other private television channels, had won international acclaim. “Waaris”, “Samandar”, “Waqt”, “Dehleez”, “Raat” and “Apne Log” were among his most popular screenplays.
