Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has denounced the shelling by Afghan Taliban in Chaman, resulting in six deaths and injuries to more than a dozen others.

In his statement, the premier asked the interim government in Kabul to take steps to ensure that such incidents are not repeated in future.

Earlier, the Foreign Office condemned the incident, saying “such unfortunate incidents are not in keeping with the brotherly ties” between the two countries.

Furthermore, the Army had termed the incident "uncalled-for aggression", adding that the Pakistani troops had given a "measured response" to the attack.

The military's media wing had also stated that the authorities had approached their Afghan counterparts to highlight the "severity" of the situation.

These incidents raise serious concerns about Pakistan’s security along its western frontier, as the TTP has also recently vowed to renew its attacks.
