FO Responds To Int’l Concerns Over Pakistan’s Political Situation
The Foreign Office (FO) stated on Friday that Pakistan has the full ability to deal with all domestic challenges in accordance with the country’s laws and constitution.

This statement came in response to violent demonstrations and expressions of worry about the detention of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan.

At a news conference, FO Spokesperson Mumtaz Zahra Baloch stated, "We have noted the statements that have come on the current situation in Pakistan, and we remind them all that Pakistan has the full ability to deal with all domestic challenges in accordance with our laws and Constitution."

She further said that Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, during his meeting with his interim Afghanistan counterpart Amir Khan Muttaqi, explicitly stated that talks with terrorist organizations, including the Tehreek-e Taliban Pakistan (TTP), would not be held because they "did not respect Pakistan's laws and Constitution."

The Foreign Office and Chief of Army Staff General Asim Munir declined Muttaqi's request to negotiate with the outlawed terrorist group, she added.

"There is documentation indicating the foreign minister indicated there would be no dialogue with terrorist groups that disregarded our laws and Constitution. This was also stated quite clearly in the trilateral statement that was released following the visit of the Chinese and interim Afghan foreign ministers," she said.

The Foreign Office said, that the three sides emphasized in the trilateral declaration the need to address security concerns, which pose a severe danger to regional peace and stability. They vowed to prevent any group or party, including the TTP and the East Turkestan Islamic Movement (ETIM), from using their areas to carry out terrorist acts. The three delegations came to an agreement on this statement, which was issued jointly.

In this respect, Baloch reaffirmed that Pakistan, China, and Afghanistan stressed the need to address the security issues that seriously endanger the peace and stability of the region.
