Netanyahu cancels dinner to avoid Sharif 


According to Jang (October 2, 2015) Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu canceled a dinner at an Italian restaurant in New York when he found out Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif was eating at that restaurant with his family. A witness said Sharif and his wife spoke to the staff in Italian language when they thanked them before leaving.

Food Department told to stop sharing pictures on Facebook


Reported in Dunya (October 2, 2015) the Lahore High Court has told the Food Department to stop sharing on Facebook the photographs they take when they raid a restaurant. It is illegal to reveal their identity before they have been convicted.

University official sacked for fake degree


Jang reports (October 3, 2015) the assistant controller of exams at Karachi University was sacked after his own Bachelor’s degree turned out to be fake. University degrees of other staff at KU are also being scrutinized.

Cops suspended for dirty dancing 


According to Nawa-e-Waqt (October 3, 2015) when five policemen who were on patrol in Mitru village arrived at a vulgar dance performance at the wedding of a local landlord’s son, they joined the party instead of stopping it. They danced with the girls in their police uniforms. They have all been suspended after the inspector general saw the video.

Allama Iqbal’s house loses electricity connection after Rs 1.7m bill


Reported in Express (October 4, 2015) the electricity connection of Allama Iqbal’s house in Lahore was cut off after the curator of the museum declined to pay a Rs 1.7 million bill on a meter that he said was not even used.

Bangladesh tells women cricketers not to speak Urdu 


Nai Baat says (October 4, 2015) the Bangladeshi cricket board took stern note of their women players speaking Urdu in Pakistan. They asked the team management for an explanation, and directed the players to only speak English and Bengali.

‘Dead men can’t run for local council’


Dunya reports (October 5, 2015) a candidate for local council elections in Sargodha was told he cannot contest because he was officially dead. The records of the election commission and NADRA both showed that he had died. He had to get a certificate that he is alive from the very union council he wanted to run for.

Stern punishment for Ayyan Ali fan


Reported in Nai Baat (October 6, 2015) a boy who invited supermodel Ayyan Ali to an event at Karachi University has been banned expelled. His admission has been canceled, he has been barred from entering the university premises, and will not be allowed to enroll in any university program in future.

Murder case against djinns 


According to Dunya (October 7, 2015) police in Chilas has registered a case against djinns for murdering a four-year-old boy. This is the first time in Pakistan’s history that djinns have been accused of murder. The investigation officer is frightened.

Finance minister was stuck in elevator at parliament lodges


Quoted in Express (October 8, 2015) Senate Chairman Raza Rabbani has expressed concern about the condition of an elevator in the parliament lodges. He said Finance Minister Ishaq Dar was stuck in the lift and had to be rescued from the roof, after which he was not allowed to use it either.
