Inspector Police Shabana Irshad has been removed from government service after she was found guilty of making a woman undo her dress and dance while in police remand. An order by the Deputy Inspector General of Police, District Quetta, stated that an inquiry had found Shabana Irshad guilty of “misuse of her authority, negligence, misconduct and non-professionalism,” after which she was to be punished with “compulsory retirement from Government service.”
Details in the order state that Irshad was investigating a woman who was in police remand from the 15th to the 28th of September 2020. During this remand, she forced the woman to un-do her dress and dance to a Sindhi song – which was filmed by other police staff.
Irshard was found deserving of major punishment under the Police Efficiency and Discipline (E&D) Rule, 1975.
