As former Islamabad High Court (IHC) judge Shaukat Aziz Siddiqui laid bare before the Supreme Court how the formation of benches and judgements were manipulated, he has asked the top court to call up former army chief General (retired) Qamar Javed Bajwa and former Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) chief Lt General (retired) Faiz Hameed along with three other senior military officers and the former chief justice of the Islamabad High Court.
In an application filed with the Supreme Court, Justice Siddiqui has urged that in his ongoing case against the government over the interference in judicial affairs by another department of the government, the court needs to call up as respondents former Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Gen (retired) Bajwa and former ISI chief Lt Gen (retired) Hameed.
Moreover, he has named three officers as respondents, including Brigadier (retired) Irfan Ramay, Brigadier (retired) Faisal Marwat, and Brigadier (retired) Tahir Wafai.
He has also named former Islamabad High Court (IHC) chief justice Anwar Khan Kasi, who had proceeded against Siddiqui.
Former Supreme Court registrar Arbab Muhammad Arif was also named as a respondent whom Siddiqui said the court needs to call up in the hearing.
Siddiqui explained that calling these individuals to court was important because they are the "proper party for the purpose of the just and appropriate decision" of his constitutional petition.
Siddiqui further submitted an affidavit that these respondents had been notified of being named as respondents in the case.
Earlier, during the hearing of Justice Siddiqui's case, the former judge's lawyer argued that senior military officers manipulated the proceedings, bench formation and judgements of the courts with specific directions against Nawaz Sharif.
