Qadri already knows?


The PML-N’s Ramesh Kumar was quoted by Daily Express (12 June 2017) as saying that perhaps Tahir-ul-Qadri had a premonition (ilham) that Nawaz Sharif always was clean in the past, remains so, and will be so in the future. Ramesh Kumar went on to suggest that perhaps due to such a premonition, Tahir-ul-Qadri was worried and was therefore suggesting that the JIT might give a clean chit to the Prime Minister.


Tsunami vs Panami


The PPP’s Maula Bux Chandio, according to Daily Jang (12 June 2017), said that both Tsunami and Panami were worried, and that only God could save them now.


Ooops!


Daily Jang (13 June 2017) reported that at a meeting of the Indian border security force (BSF), some officers showed a presentation during which an ‘immoral’ (ghair-ikhlaqi) film played for a minute and a half. This, according to the report, reflected the low morals (ikhlaqi pasti) of the Indian border force.


Guarding against Gullus


Daily Jang (14 June 2017) quoted PTI chief Imran Khan as saying that the PML-N was preparing its Gullu Butts but that he would not permit any spectacle (tamasha) to be created in front of the JIT.


“Only one way out”


The PPP’s AItzaz Ahsan, commenting on the situation of the Prime Minister, described it as being stuck in a closed room. According to Daily Express (15 June 2017), he stated that the PM could only break a wall to get out of this.


Ominous words?


Daily Dunya (16 June 2017) quoted Sheikh Rasheed as saying that accountability is a part of democracy and that when Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto was executed, not even a bird flapped its wings (parinda bhee nahin pharpharaaya tha). He went on to say that only one was left and that his summons would come soon (aik hee bacha hai, isska bhee jaldd bulaawa aa jaye ga).


A modest proposal for modesty?


According to Daily Nawa-i-Waqt (17 June 2017), the founder and central leader of the Aalmi Chaadar Owrh Tehreek (Covering Up Movement) called for implementing an Islamic dress code in the country and that in the Assemblies, a dupatta should be made mandatory on the heads of women.


Khwaja Asif on Imran’s efforts


Federal Minister for Water and Power Khwaja Asif was quoted by Daily Nawa-i-Waqt (18 June 2017) as saying that Imran Khan was collecting all the refuse (koora karkat) of Pakistani politics. He went on to suggest that Khan take a trip to Gujrat and recruit the Chaudhry brothers to the PTI.


Imran Khan on poverty and unemployment


PPTI chief Imran Khan, according to Daily Dunya (18 June 2017), stated that money-laundering is the cause of poverty and unemployment. He was further quoted as saying that the biggest money launderers were Nawaz Sharif, Shahbaz Sharif, Ishaq Dar and the Chairman of the National Bank.


Containers again?


PProvincial law minister Rana Sanaullah was quoted by Daily Dunya (15 June 2017) as saying that it appeared to him that the JIT had climbed onto a container and that the spirit of Imran Khan had entered into it.
