Najaf Hameed, former Naib Tehsildar of Chakwal and brother of former DG ISI, Lieutenant General (retired) Faiz Hameed, was robbed of Rs 10.7 million in cash, as well as an iPhone 13 Pro.

Najaf Hameed has nominated his two former employees in the police complaint, or first information report (FIR) of the crime, at the Neela Police Station, Chakwal, on July 13.

FIR filed on complaint of Najaf Hameed to Neela Police Station, Chakwal, on July 13.

The FIR nominates Aashiq Hussain and Maqsood Ahmed, formerly employed as domestic workers by Najaf Hameed, as the suspects since they were responsible for the house which was burglarized.

According to the FIR, Najaf Hameed was visiting Lahore on April 6 for medical treatment, and returned to his ancestral home in Chakwal on April 24 after a surgical operation. Upon opening his safe, he discovered that Rs 10.7 million in cash, and an iPhone 13 Pro mobile phone, were missing from a briefcase in the safe.

Najaf Hameed nominated his domestic workers Ashiq and Maqsood, stating in the complaint that both employees had been responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of house in his absence. The complaint reads that all household responsibilities were entrusted to them during his absence, during which time the money and mobile phone were allegedly stolen.

The FIR also mentioned that after conducting inquiries with all the residents of the house, the two employees were found to be the prime suspects. The police have initiated legal action and are conducting their investigation into the matter.

Journalist Asad Toor questioned how a low-ranking official of the revenue department and brother of a former DG ISI was in possession of such a large amount of cash, and whether he had declared it in his tax returns as required by law, or not.
