Former prime minister Imran Khan has asserted that a conspiracy is being hatched to assassinate him, announcing that he has recorded a video naming all the 'conspirators' that will be released if something happens to him.
He made these claims while speaking to a large crowd during a PTI rally in Sialkot today (Saturday). "A conspiracy is being hatched behind closed doors to take my life," he said, adding that he came to know about it a few days ago.
"I have recorded a video and kept it in a safe place. If something happens to me then this video will be brought forward to the nation. In it, I've named everyone who has conspired against me and has been complicit since last summer," he said.
Claiming that this was jihad and not politics, Khan went on to say that his enemies view him as an obstacle in their path. "If something happens to me then I want all my Pakistanis to know who was complicit in this conspiracy."
"I recorded the video because it's [part of the] history how the powerful are never brought under law and always remain safe," he said, adding that he wanted the faces of those who betrayed the country to come out into the open.
He said that those in power did not share his resolve to weed out corruption. "Those who are in powerful positions, who were supposed to be just and fair, did not consider corruption bad. They have accepted that the powerful will steal and no one will catch them."
He also told the youth in the crowds to heed his call. "Be prepared, shut down petrol pumps, transport and internet when I give the call."
