MNA Ali Wazir 'Arrested' By Sindh Police In A 2018 Case While Awaiting Release
Incarcerated Pashtun Tahaffuz Movement (PTM)-linked MNA Ali Wazir, who was recently granted bail by the Sindh High Court (SHC) in one of the cases against him, has been 'arrested' by the Sindh police in an old FIR registered in Karachi in 2018.

The arrest was announced by the Sindh government today (Saturday). Earlier on Thursday the bail hearing of the last remaining case against him was delayed till May 18.

Ali Wazir was arrested on December 16, 2020 in Peshawar on account of allegedly making anti-state speeches against the Pakistani state. He was brought to Karachi and subsequently jailed in the Karachi Central Jail since December 31, 2020.

Wazir had been granted bail in two out of three of the cases against him, and the final bail hearing was supposed to take place on May 12. However, it was announced that the hearing had been adjourned till May 18, due to the absence of the Karachi Anti-Terrorism Court judge.

The most recent case against him was registered by Karachi's Boat Basin police station in 2018, and according to sources, the FIR appears to have been sealed off.

People online are criticizing the Sindh government for the continued arrest of parliamentarians like Wazir on fake cases.

PTM leader and MNA Mohsin Dawar tweeted out against the arrest and demand that Ali Wazir be released.
