A 24-year-old social worker, Saba Aslam, was stabbed to death in Karachi. Police have arrested the victim's neighbour suspected of being involved in the murder.
According to police Saba was attacked by the suspect as she left her home, in sector 5A New Karachi, on Tuesday afternoon. Eyewitnesses told that Saba was attacked by two men who came on a motorbike and stabbed her in the back with a sharp-edged instrument.
The victim was shifted to Abbasi Shaheed hospital on a Chhipa Welfare Association ambulance. Shahid Chhipa, a worker of the organization, said that the victim was already dead when they reached the crime scene.
SHO police told BBC Urdu that the suspect had a heated argument with Saba three days before the incident took place. He further said that the First Information Report (FIR) was registered with the state being the plaintiff as the family of the deceased refused to lodge an FIR.
Saba had been running a welfare organization for the past five years. The organization, which was named after her parents, worked against child labour and for the welfare of widowed women. Saba had also uploaded numerous videos on social media in which she can be seen talking about drainage issues in her locality.
