Rights Activist Imaan Mazari ‘Assaulted’ By Male Police Officer
Lawyer and human rights activist Imaan Mazari was allegedly harassed and assaulted by a male police officer at the Secretariat police station in the federal capital on Tuesday.

Imaan said that she visited the police station, where she heard the screaming of her mother, former minister Shireen Mizari, from inside the room. "While predicting that my mother is being subjected to torture, I questioned the police officer present at the police station, upon which the male officer beat me and dragged me on the floor," she added.

She said that her mother was scheduled to be released from Adiala Jail on Tuesday as per orders of the Islamabad High Court, but she was again arrested by the police and shifted to the police station.

Imaan’s mother, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Shireen Mizari, was detained by the Islamabad police following the violent protests by the party workers against the arrest of PTI Chairman Imran Khan in a corruption case.

On the other hand, an Islamabad Police spokesperson refuted the allegations, saying that no such incident of torture or manhandling happened in the police station.

It is pertinent to mention here that Imran Khan has not uttered a single word in support of Shireen Mazari or any female party leader, but he is much concerned about the security and safety of his wife, Bushra Bibi, and has publicly voiced worry, claiming a plan is on the cards to detain Bushra Bibi in the Al-Qadit Trust case.
