DJ Butt beats up unruly PTI workers


According to Nawa-e-Waqt (February 8, 2016) famous sound engineer DJ Butt lost his temper (aapay say bahir) at an Imran Khan rally in Balochistan and slapped PTI workers (thaparr barsaye) before complaining to the party chief. The workers had accidentally disconnected the power cable when they climbed the stage, and the music stopped, making DJ Butt furious (ghussay say lal peelay).

Luggage stolen from plane during PIA strike


Reported in Jang (February 8, 2016) while the PIA staff was on a strike and flight operations were suspended, people began to steal luggage from the stalled flights. In one such case, someone opened the cargo holder of a flight from Islamabad and stole four packets belonging to a courier company.

Boy caught polio despite nine vaccinations


Dunya reports (February 9, 2016) a boy tested positive for poliovirus was vaccinated nine times. A health official in Karachi said there was nothing wrong with the vaccine, but it could only reduce the chances of contracting the virus.

Robbers weren’t thick as thieves 


Express reports (February 10, 2016) four robbers who were on their way to rob someone began to quarrel amongst themselves. The fight escalated and they took out their guns. One of them was shot dead and another was injured. The rest ran away. The injured man told the police at the hospital they were intending to rob (daakay ki niyyat say).

Ancient shrine dug up in search of treasure 


Reported in Nawa-e-Waqt (February 11, 2016) 12 men who were looking for a buried treasure dug up a 200-year-old grave of a saint in Khairpur. Someone had told them there was a gold cauldron full of jewels buried in the shrine. They didn’t find the treasure, but they took out some of the bones of the saint and threw them outside. The police found them with the help of a khoji.

Citizens catch fake tax officials


People in Lahore caught four fake tax officials fining vehicles for not paying their excise dues, reports Jang (February 12, 2016).  Two of them were handed over to the police, and two ran away.

Police arrest a donkey and its owner 


According to Dunya (February 13, 2016) police arrested a donkey and its owner after the animal hit their patrol vehicle and broke its window glass. The district police officer asked the cops to be kind and ordered the release of the donkey (gadhay ki rihai kay ehkamaat).

Facing the music


Reported in Express (February 13, 2016) a man was arrested in Okara for listening to loud music on his tractor-trolley. Police registered a case against him. It did not elaborate what law was violated.

According to Dunya (February 14, 2016) among the list of registered voters in PTI’s internal elections are Barack Obama, Narendra Modi and Amitabh Bachan. Barack Obama’s vote number is 4F-2667.

Wedding bells become alarm bells


Nawa-e-Waqt reports (February 14, 2016) when a man showed up with the entire wedding procession at the house of his bride-to-be, the house was locked and the family had disappeared. He began to cry and the wedding guests carried out a protest. The bride’s family ran away with Rs 100,000 and some jewelry.
