In a powerful display of unity and resolve, hundreds of Ser Takegram and Malam Jabba Road residents joined forces with the Matorize Qaumi Jirga to organise a peace march last week condemning the recent attacks on police check posts and stations in the area.
The march, which began at the Ser Talegram police station and culminated at the Talegram petrol pump, saw participants carrying placards and banners inscribed with slogans expressing their unwavering support for the police and advocating for lasting peace.
Speakers at the peace march, including Mukhtiar Yousafzai of the Swat Qaumi Jirga, Adalat Khan of the Matorize Qaumi Jirga, Naik Amal Khan of Talegram, Mian Sher Ali of Kishawra, and others, delivered impassioned messages emphasising the public's unwavering commitment to peace and their unshakeable support for the police.
"We stand shoulder-to-shoulder with our police force and will not permit anyone to disrupt the peace in our region," they declared. "We are willing to make any sacrifices necessary to maintain peace and urge the authorities to empower the police by granting them additional powers."
The speakers also urged the police to remain focused on their duties and resist pressure from influential quarters.
Organised by civil society groups, the peace march served as a powerful expression of solidarity with the Swat police and a resounding condemnation of recent attacks on them.
