Supreme Court Justice Mazahar Ali Naqvi has challenged the Supreme Judicial Council's (SJC) proceedings against him in the apex court.
The Supreme Court has been urged by Justice Mazahar Naqvi to end the proceedings of the SJC and prevent any action from being taken against him.
Additionally, he begged for the notification sent to him by the Council to be ruled unlawful.
References against Justice Mazahir Naqvi will be heard by the Supreme Judicial Council (SJC) starting on Monday.
Full details of two Lahore properties in Justice Mazahir Naqvi's name have been sought by the Supreme Judicial Council. Full records have been sought for Plot No. 100 St. John's Park in Lahore Cantt and Plot No. 144 Block F-One in Gulberg 3, Lahore.
The various government departments have been summoned to appear before the SJC at 3:00 p.m., along with paperwork pertaining to the two properties. Under Article 210 of the Constitution, the Supreme Judicial Council has sent notifications to all relevant offices.
Mian Dawood, a Lahore-based lawyer, filed a complaint against Justice Naqvi on February 23 for allegedly violating the Supreme Court's code of conduct for judges issued under Clause 8 of Article 209 of the Constitution, accusing the judge of "misconduct" and "amassing illegitimate assets."
The SJC is a constitutional body that investigates complaints of misconduct against Supreme and High Court judges. It is made up of the chief justice, two senior-most Supreme Court judges, and two senior-most high court chief justices.
