The military has allegedly denied that any negotiations or talks took place with Awami Muslim League (AML) chairman Sheikh Rashid, as insinuated by his tweets regarding the Corps Commanders meeting held in Rawalpindi on Wednesday, says journalist Hamid Mir.
Rashid had tweeted on Wednesday that the meeting being held in Rawalpindi today would prove to be very lucky for Pakistan, claiming that the 'final round' would take place in the next days. He added that the current government had economically and politically bankrupted the country.
He also said that either the date for the anticipated Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) long march, or the general elections would have to be announced during the very decisive months of October and November.

As per Hamid Mir, the reference to the meeting held in Rawalpindi was meant to insinuate that the negotiations between the army and the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) had been successful. "However, my reports indicate the opposite," he contended.
"My sources tell me that the story Sheikh Rashid is spinning about negotiations is completely false, and that we have had no talks in which deals have been made or offered," he said, adding that the sources said that everything they do will be according to the Constitution and law.
Mir said that his sources 'completely and categorically' rejected what Sheikh Rashid had said.
