The Lahore High Court on Wednesday gave the chief of Punjab police one last opportunity to produce missing journalist and Youtuber Imran Riaz Khan.

The court gave Punjab Inspector General of Policy until September 26 to produce the journalist before the court.

This was directed as the court heard a case filed by Imran's father, Muhammad Riaz, against the Punjab government and other government officials.

Muhammad Riaz appeared along with his legal team, comprising Barrister Mian Ali Ashfaq, Rana Abdul Marufkan, Mian Izhar Ahmad, Arshad Ali Janjua, Tahir Abbas Bhatti, Peer Ali Raza, Chaudhry Abdullah Tanveer, Umair Hassan Malik, Barrister Raja Abdul Qadeer, Ahad Khokhar, Faiz Kandhwal, Moiz Tariq, Ashad Ali Azhar and Advocate Amna Liaquat.

For the defence, Deputy Attorney General of Pakistan Syed Tanveer Ahmad Hashmi, Ministry Of Defence Legal Advisor Brig (retired) Falak Naz, Director Legal Lt Col Kafeel Khan, Assistant Advocate General Barrister Saad Ghazi, Punjab IGP Dr Usman Anwer, Additional IGP (Operations) Shahzada Sultan, AIG Legal Saleem Chugtai, DSP Legal Shoaib, Sialko Assistant Commissioner Taimoor Adil and Sialkot Jail Deputy Superintendent Kamran Siddique appeared.

The court said that on the request of the Punjab police chief, the court granted police time to present Imran Riaz Khan.

The court warned that should the police fail, proceedings will be initiated against them as per law.

The court was adjourned until September 26.

Imran Riaz Khan had gone missing in May when unidentified officials picked him up while attempting to fly out of Pakistan from the Sialkot airport. His release was subsequently ordered, but the matter resumed when he was apprehended by masked men just as he was released from jail and whisked away.

His exact whereabouts remain unknown, but there has been a dialogue between Imran Riaz Khan's legal team and some representatives of those who apprehended Imran.
