Top lawyer bodies, including Pakistan Bar Council, have announced to file separate complaints against the SC judge, purportedly featured in the latest audio leak, in Supreme Judicial Council next week
In the leaked clip, former chief minister Punjab Parvez Elahi could be allegedly heard talking about fixing a case for hearing before a particular bench or judge. However, the former PMLQ leader claimed that the conversation 'with a lawyer' had been recorded and twisted.
Addressing a presser on Tuesday, PBC Executive Committee chief Hasan Raza Pasha said that all superior bars will be filing separate complaints of misconduct against the judge.
The Council's representative further said that the decision had the representation of all lawyer bodies.
Pasha further stated that the decision to file the complaint was made as the apex court did not reply to the request to probe the audio leaks.
Earlier, Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah asked Chief Justice of Pakistan Umar Ata Bandial to take notice of the clip.
“This clip is embarrassing as a minion of Imran Khan is involved,” he had said while addressing a presser.
He was apparently referring to Parvez Elahi, the other person believed to be a part of the conversation in the leak.
The minister had told media persons that he didn’t want to reveal the identity ‘of the judge’ as forensics are still awaited.
“How courageously he [Elahi] was managing Pakistan’s top court,” he said. “I will request the chief justice of Pakistan to take notice of this.”
The PMLN leader had also said that he had directed FIA to conduct forensics of the clips and then arrest the former chief minister for an interrogation.
The leak, this time aimed at the judiciary, is the latest in a series of tapes allegedly involving top political leaders. Earlier, several tapes allegedly featuring PTI chief and his wife Bushra Bibi surfaced, raising calls for a through probe.
