Shahbaz Gill Confirms Sexual Abuse In Custody Hours After Denial
Islamabad police was granted two-day physical remand of PTI leader Shahbaz Gill by the district and sessions court.

Reportedly, in his statement before a court, Gill did not mention the charge of sexual abuse. The court was also informed that no evidence of sexual abuse was uncovered during Gill’s medical examination. Neo TV network reported this earlier today.

Daily Nation reported: "...Shahbaz Gill, in his written statement tendered before court, said he was not sexually abused during detention. However, he claimed that he subjected to torture by the investigators during the course of investigation; an allegation completely denied by the capital city police chief Dr Akbar Nasir Khan and members of inquiry committee."

While talking to reporters late Monday night, Gill confirmed that he was sexually abused in custody.  “It is true”, he told TV reporters.

Gill was charged with sedition case and arrested on August 9.

PTI chairman Imran Khan had claimed in a couple of tweets that Gill was sexually abused in police custody last week. He said that all the pictures and videos [being circulated on media] show clearly that Gill was tortured mentally and physically.

“He [Gill] was humiliated to break him down. I now have full detailed info. [The] ICT police say they did not inflict any torture. So my question is who tortured Gill. There is a general perception in the public at large and in our minds too as to who could have carried out the gruesome torture,” he said.

“Remember the public will react. We will leave no stone unturned to find out those responsible and bring them to justice,” he added.

The Islamabad police submitted a report before the court that stated that Gill was not subjected to any kind of torture.

“As per the statement of jail authorities and expert reports of the Pims Medical Board conducted on Aug 11, 17 and 18, no signs of torture were found on the body of the accused,” reported DAWN.

The Police report also mentioned that Gill was examined by three medical boards. Islamabad administration also gave him the opportunity for medical examination. “But Gill refused to this opportunity for unknown reasons,” as reported by daily DAWN.
