Army Claims Killing 8 Terrorists, Arresting 5 In Two Operations In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa

At least eight terrorists and their facilitators were killed, while another five were apprehended when security forces launched intelligence-based operations in different parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Thursday.

In a statement issued on Thursday by the military's media wing, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the operations were conducted in Bannu and North Waziristan.

In Bannu, the operation was carried out in the Jani Khel area, where a military convoy was struck by a suicide bomber last month.

The military said that their teams engaged in an intense exchange of fire with a squad of 11 terrorists.

Of these, six were killed, while five others were apprehended.

The military said these terrorists were involved in several terrorist activities against security forces, including the facilitation of a motorcycle-borne suicide attack on a military convoy in Jani Khel on August 31, 2023, in which nine soldiers were martyred.

In the second operation, security forces traded heavy gunfire with two terrorists in the general area of Datta Khel, in North Waziristan Merged Tribal District.

Weapons and ammunition were recovered from the dead terrorists.

After the operation, search and sanitisation operations were launched in the surrounding areas to neutralise any other terrorists hiding in the area.

Locals appreciated the operation. ISPR stated that the security forces of Pakistan remain determined to eliminate the menace of terrorism.
