Mobile service in some parts of Karachi will continue to be partially suspended till the 10th of Muharram (July 29), according to a statement made by the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA).
The telecommunications regulator stated that the Ministry of Interior's directives were the basis for the decision to cease the services.
Numerous complaints have been received from customers who allege that some mobile service locations are experiencing disruptions at different times while others are completely shut down.
Steel Town, Gulshan-e-Hadid, Jaffer e Tayar Society, Malir 15, Future Colony, Dawood Chowrangi, and Haji Zakaria Goth are the places with impacted or halted mobile services.
In the meanwhile, services have been curtailed in several places, including Shah Latif Town, Bhitaiabad, Memon Goth Main Market, and Bin Qasim Town.
Due to Ashura, the federal government has declared the 9th and 10th of Muharram (July 28 and 29) as public holidays.
The Cabinet Division issued a statement stating, "It is for general knowledge that the Prime Minister has announced July 28 to 29, 2023 (Friday and Saturday) as public holidays on the occasion of Ashura (9th and 10th Moharram 1445 AH).
Youm-e-Ashura will be held on July 29 (Saturday), as the nation will mark the first of Muharram, the start of the new Islamic year 1445 AH, this evening (July 20).
