Javeria Siddique, the wife of slain journalist Arshad Sharif in a tweet said that her husband was shot dead in Kenya.
She has also appealed the media and social media users to respect the privacy of family. Siddique took to Twitter hours after the reports of Sharif's death appeared on social media.
In a message she said, "I lost friend, husband and my favourite journalist @arsched today, as per police he was shot in Kenya."
She added, "Respect our privacy and in the name of breaking pls don't share our family pics, personal details and his last pictures from hospital."
She concluded with a request for prayers.
Arshad Sharif's mother reportedly is devastated. She lost another son a few years ago in a traffic accident and now her second son is dead.
