Meanwhile, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif asked the people, particularly the youngsters, to pay a visit to the monuments and graves of martyrs and lay flowers as a token of love and respect. He said that Pakistan should demonstrate to the outside world just how highly it regards its martyrs.
He said that the purpose of commemorating Martyrs' Day was to pay eloquent homage to the heroes and show unwavering support for their families.
In a tweet, the prime minister expressed sadness and condemnation for the violence on May 9 and the vandalism of martyrs' monuments, saying that the events gave the enemy cause to rejoice.
