A first information report (FIR) has been filed against Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Farrukh Habib in Sheikhupura for 'trying to interfere in the matters of state' when he attempted to block the passage of police motorcade transporting PTI's Senior Vice President Fawad Chaudhry to Islamabad.
The FIR has been lodged against Habib under sections 148, 149, 186, 225, 341, 353, and 395 of the Pakistan Penal Code.
As per FIR, Habib, along with his party workers, allegedly damaged the uniforms of the police personnel and snatched a wireless set from them.
In a video circulating on social media, Habib attempted to halt police vehicles at the Lahore Toll Plaza and throughout the incident, Habib could be heard repeatedly stating, “The Lahore High Court has summoned Fawad Chaudhry. We will not allow the violation of judicial orders.”
However, LHC later withdrew the orders upon learning that the former federal minister had been lawfully arrested and not 'abducted' by the state authorities, as earlier claimed in a petition by PTI.
