A woman was brutally killed with an axe in the Rabat area of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa's Lower Dir district, it emerged on Friday.
Yasmeen, 30, belonged to Chitral and got married in Dir Brawal, before being moved to Rabat. She has left four young children behind.
The woman's daughter said, "The assailant was beating me at our house when my mother, upon hearing me scream, came out from inside. He then hit her hands, legs, and head with the axe and killed her."
According to the victim's brother, his sister called him and said that some people were there to kill her, and asked for help.
"When I reached there, my sister had been shifted from the Timergarah hospital to Peshawar in a critical condition, and died shortly afterwards," he said.
Meanwhile, Khal police told The Friday Times that an FIR of the murder had been filed with the statement of the victim when she was still alive.
After her death, they added, Section 302 (premeditated murder) has been added to the report against the accused.
The people of the neighbourhood protested on the road with the body, demanding prompt justice.
The targeting of women in the name of honour has increased in the province. A few days back, a 17-year-old girl, Salma was killed in Sardaryab area of Charsadda when her video was posted on social media by the accuser.
In Swat, an NGO 'Awakening' has been documenting the cases of domestic violence, honor killings, sexual assault, and suicide, since 2012.
A report prepared by the organisation states that 229 people were killed in the name of honour over the past seven years.
