IHC Suspends PEMRA Ban On Imran Khan's Live Speeches
Islamabad High Court Chief Justice Athar Minallah on Monday suspended a ban PEMRA had imposed the transmission of PTI chairman Imran Khan' live speeches.

Justice Minallah said the regulatory body did "not have the authority" to issue such orders. The IHC CJ also went on to say that PEMRA "cannot ban speeches based on objectionable comments."

The PEMRA ban was issued on August 21 2022  and was issued on the basis that Imran Khan’s speeches were violating their rules as well as Article 19 of the Constitution specifically.

The argument placed before the CJ by Khan’s legal team was that the PTI chairman wanted to do a live telethon to raise money for the flood victims. Notices were issued to PEMRA and the Attorney-General of Pakistan Ashtar Ausaf Ali post suspension.
