Mob In Charsadda Sets Fire To Police Station After Cops Refuse To Give Up Blasphemy Accused
A mob has attacked a police station in Charsadda after police refused to hand over to them a man accused of desecrating a copy of the Quran. Police had been holding the man at Mandani police station in Charsadda's Tangi tehsil, when a mob gathered and demanded that he be handed over. Eventually, by evening on Sunday, when the police rejected the demand, the mob grew infuriated and attacked the premises of the police station, as well as vehicles parked there.

Despite this violence, police sources confirmed that they successfully moved the man in custody to a safe location. KP Law Minister Fazal Shakoor Khan has stated that nobody will be allowed to take the law into their own hands.

Members of the mob are now staging a sit-in protest at Harichand Road. Local religious leaders have reached the site to ask the protesters for calm, and police reinforcements have also been brought into the area.
