A court in Islamabad has confirmed the pre-arrest bails of former prime minister and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairperson Imran Khan in 10 cases registered against him for vandalism during the party’s ‘Azadi March’.
At least 15 cases were registered at different police stations against the former prime minister after the May 25 march. The cases were registered over blocking of roads, disrupting state affairs, attacking police personnel and damaging property.
During the hearing today, Imran appeared in the court of Judge Kamran Basharat Mufti alongside his counsel Babar Awan and PTI leader Shahbaz Gill.
Babar informed the court that his client has been booked in 15 cases of the “same nature” and requested that he be granted bail.
The judge asked the prosecutor if he has any objections.
Subsequently, the court confirmed Imran’s pre-arrest bails in 10 cases and directed him to submit surety bonds of Rs5,000.
In another case, registered under sections of treason at the Kohsar police station, the court granted Imran interim bail and summoned the record of the case at the next hearing, scheduled on September 8.
It is pertinent to mention that the PTI chief’s bails in five other cases had already been confirmed by Judge Abdul Ghafoor Kakar.
