Bangladesh Police on Wednesday arrested a man for "abetting the suicide" of his daughter.
Moushumi Chatterjee*, a student at the BRAC University, allegedly committed suicide by jumping off a 10-storey building in Dakshinkhan's Mollahat area on Saturday.
Police's Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested Mosaddika's father Shaheen Alam, 48, from Gafargaon in Munshiganj after his wife filed a case against him for abetting suicide of the 22-year-old. The police suspect the student killed herself by jumping off the building.
The deceased left a suicide note holding her father responsible for her death and terming him "abusive rapist who did not even spare housemaids". BRAC students, however, claim Moushumi was killed, saying there was no injury or bruise on her body to indicate she jumped off a building.
