An anonymous caller has warned Mumbai police about the bombs being planted near the homes of billionaire industrialist Mukesh Ambani, actors Amitabh Bachchan, and Dharmendra.
The phone call was made to Mumbai’s Emergency Response Support System from an anonymous source, with the police informed about the potential threats in Juhu, Vile-Parle, and Gamdevi areas, according to India.
Further, The Indian Express quoted a police officer as saying that the caller claimed the dispatching of 25 people in the Dadar of the metropolis to carry out further attacks.
Mumbai police, on the other hand, are still trying to identify the unknown caller and if the threat is real.
It comes a day after Ambani was given a Z-plus security on the orders of the Indian Supreme Court.
It is the highest level of security given in the country to individuals who are at 'high-risk'. It currently includes 55 personnel, including over 10 National Security Guard commandos and police personnel.
The entire cost of security will be borne by the Ambanis, the court said after awarding Ambani the security.
In 2021, police in the city took three people in custody for spreading rumours about bombs planted near three railway stations as well as Bachchan's house.
In November last year, Bollywood stars Salman Khan, Akshay Kumar and Anupam Kher were awarded different levels of security in view of the threats against them.
Khan was given a Y-plus security while Kumar and Kher received the X category status, to avert harm to them.
Khan will have a total of 11 men for security, including one or two commandos. Five of the personnel will be deployed outside his residence while three Personal Security Officers (PSOs) will be with him.
The PSOs are deployed on a rotational basis in three shifts, with one PSO with the assigned person at a specific time.
It is pertinent to mention here that former Indian cricket team captain Dhoni was earlier given the same level of security.
