Islamabad court sentenced five police personnel in the Osama Nadeem Satti murder case on Monday.
While announcing a verdict, the court awarded death sentence to two policemen and life imprisonment to the other three cops.
It is pertinent to mention here that on January 2, 2021, Osama Satti had gone to drop off his friend in H-11. When he was returning, a police team tried to stop him in response to a police communication about a robbery. The police team fired at the vehicle indiscriminately, resulting in his death on the spot. During the course of the incident, a case was filed with the Ramna police department under 7 ATA and various sections of the Pakistan Penal Code. Five police officials involved in the killing were also arrested.
On April 11, 2021, a Joint Investigation Team (JIT) report confirmed that the policemen had murdered the youth intentionally.
According to the report, five police officers, including a driver, opened fire on Satti's car with the intent of killing him rather than neutralising him.
They fired 19 bullets at the car, and all the bullets entered the vehicle from the rear, rear left, and rear right sides. The firing was opened from a distance of five to 10 feet, and the rear left and right sides were targeted from a distance of 12 feet and 15 feet, respectively.
A bullet entry was also discovered on the vehicle's roof, indicating that the fire was opened with three weapons—two SMGs and a 9mm pistol.
