At least seven people were shot dead while resting in their residential quarters in the port city of Balochistan on Thursday.
Gwadar Police Station Station House Officer (SHO) Mohsin Ali said unidentified armed men opened fire on a residential apartment located near the Gwadar Fish Harbour in the Surbandar region, killing seven and injuring one.
According to a police officer, the deceased and injured people worked at a barbershop in the neighborhood and were from Punjab's Khanewal district.
The deceased dead bodies and injured person have all been taken to Gwadar Hospital, according to the official.
Balochistan Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti denounced the assassination of barbershop workers in Gwadar and expressed sympathy to the victims' families.
CM Bugti further sought a report on the incident, stating that "all kinds of force will be utilized to apprehend the terrorists and their facilitators."
Mir Zia Ullah Langau, Balochistan's Home Minister, has ordered a probe into the killings of the seven people killed, calling it "open terrorism."
The minister stated that assassinating workers is a despicable act and that terrorists would face severe consequences.
Meanwhile, a spokesperson for the provincial administration confirmed that the workers' families have been informed.
Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari, Chairman of the Pakistan People's Party (PPP), has denounced the workers' killings.
"Brutal killing of innocent workers is open terrorism," he stated, adding that people around the country, especially Balochistan, are outraged by this cruelty.
"The monsters involved in the crime should be brought to justice," the PPP chairman insisted.
