According to Dunya (March 2, 2015) Punjab’s Civil Secretariat spent Rs 226 on each cup of tea served in its meetings in the last seven months, and each biscuit cost Rs 34.

Traffic warden versus policeman’s brother

Reported in Jang (March 2, 2015) a police officer’s brother and a traffic warden began to fight in Lahore. They grabbed each other by the collar. The matter ended up in the police station, where there was a reconciliation.

Air hostess suspended for not serving coffee

Nai Baat says (March 3, 2015) a PIA air hostess was suspended when she declined to serve coffee to the wife of a member of the board of directors. She showed him a notification by the airline administration that forbade serving tea or coffee in ATR planes on any route other than between Lahore and Islamabad.

Karachi police seizes ‘dog mutton’

Police raided a house in Karachi and caught two men with dog meat that they sold as mutton (kuttay ka mutton), Nawa-e-Waqt reports (March 3, 2015). They also seized burned heads of dogs. The men were heroin addicts.

Transformers stolen from prime minister’s farmhouse

Reported in Express (March 4, 2015) two transformers were stolen from Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s farmhouse in Raiwind – one from his fish farm, and the second from his son-in-law’s flour mill.

Arrest warrant for Tariq Teddy

A family court issued an arrest warrant for famous comedian Tariq Teddy, reports Jang (March 4, 2015). His wife alleges he kicked her out of his house for giving birth to two daughters, and does not give her alimony.

Shahid Afridi blushes at the mention of his age

According to Dunya (March 5, 2015) cricketer Shahid Afridi began to blush  (sharma gaye) when Ramiz Raja spoke to him about his age. He said he was 35, not 40.

Pakistanis deported for begging on Umrah visas

Nawa-e-Waqt reports (March 5, 2015) 70 Pakistanis were deported from Saudi Arabia because they went to the country on Umrah visas but began to beg or work illegally. They arrived in Pakistan in poor conditions. The FIA let them go after legal formalities.

Sharmila Farooqui shows up for Senate elections on wedding day

Dunya reports (March 6, 2015) Sharmila Farooqui surprised everyone when she showed up at the Sindh Assembly to vote in the Senate election on the day of her wedding. She said her party was her priority.

Police team raids drunken mujra, joins the party

A police team (police kay shair jawan) raided a wedding where neighbors had complained people were drinking and girls were dancing (mujra), but ended up drinking and watching the dance with them, according to Nawa-e-Waqt (March 6, 2015). The three policemen were arrested.

Two men shamed and beaten for selling donkey meet as beef

Reported in Jang (March 7, 2015) two men in Faisalabad had just killed a donkey with a lethal injection and were cutting its meat to sell as beef when the locals caught them (qabu kar liya). They blackened their faces and paraded them in the streets, and tortured them before taking them to the police.

Amulet discovered in theater dancer’s make up room

According to Nai Baat (March 7, 2015) an amulet was discovered in the make-up room of theater dancer Nida Chaudhry. It had her name written on it, with several words in Hindi. She says her jealous rival actresses resort to black magic. That is why she falls ill so often.
