India police said on Wednesday that suspects in the Kerala human sacrifice case probably ate body parts of two victims killed after being lured into black magic rituals.
The incident first garnered headlines on Tuesday. There is a possibility that the suspects ate victims' body parts, Kochi Commissioner CH Nagaraju was reported as having commented by ANI. He said this was being probed but was yet to be confirmed.
The Kochi commissioner said police had recovered the remains of both killed. Remains of one of the killed women were recovered from three pits where they had been buried, Nagaraju said. Police are also probing any sexual angle.
He said Shafi, one of the three accused, was a pervert who had a criminal record. Shafi, another police official said, had been named in eight other FIRs.
The two other suspects have been identified as husband-wife duo Bhagawal Singh and Laila. All three have been nabbed by police. The suspects were remanded on judicial custody by a Kerala court on Wednesday which will end on October 26.
