A controversy ensued as Punjab's former communications minister was arrested in the presence of an SHO from Islamabad police but the official Twitter handle of the department denied the arrest.

However, the former provincial minister's lawyer told the court that Ali Afzal Sahi was arrested in his presence and video evidence of the arrest and police officials' presence at the scene was available.

Ali Afzal Sahi is accused of masterminding the attacks on sensitive security buildings in Faisalabad, including an ISI safe house, on the eve of May 9 after PTI chairman Imran Khan's arrest in Al-Qadir Trust corruption case.

Earlier this month, NAB had launched a formal investigation against the former Punjab Chief Minister Chaudhary Pervez Elahi, his son Monis Elahi as well as former Provincial Minister Ali Afzal Sahi with regards to the construction contracts in Gujrat and Mandi Bahauddin in connection with corruption worth PKR 1 billion and 25 crores.

Sources say that the accused have allegedly received 226 billions of corruption in a total of 226 contracts. However, a court in Lahore had recently confirmed Ali Afzal Sahi's interim bail in the case of alleged corruption case.

In May this year, a purported audio clip of Lahore High Court Bar Association (LHCBA) President Advocate Chaudhry Ishtiaq and Faisalabad Bar’s Advocate Imtiaz Lona had surfaced online in which both lawyers were talking about the attack on the ISI Faisalabad office launched after the detention of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan in the Al-Qadir Trust case.

During a telephone conversation, LHCBA President Advocate Chaudhry Ishtiaq asked Advocate Lona about the incident that occurred in Faisalabad. While responding, Lona informed Ishtiaq that former DBA Faisalabad president Bilal Ashraf Basra and PTI leader Ali Afzal Sahi, along with protestors, attacked the ISI Faisalabad office and raised slogans outside the building. Resultantly, the security personnel fired bullets from inside the premises, which left four to five protestors injured, advocate Lona said.

Advocate Lona further said that DBA Faisalabad President Rana Shahid Munir Munj was told to ask Basra and Sahi not to take shelter in the bar as both are named in the FIR of the attack on the office of the premier spy agency.

He said that the DBA Faisalabad president requested that the two accused not take shelter in the bar.

Advocate Lona further said that Ali Afzal Sahi, Junaid Sahi, and Bilal Ashraf Basra were present inside the bar when a heavy contingent of police entered and took them into custody.

The LHCBA president said that a man he named Babar has asked him to issue a condemnation and call for a strike against the police action. To which advocate Lona said, "Yes, a press release should be issued to condemn the incident; otherwise, our image would be affected."

Upon which, the LHCBA president said, "Yes, I was just asking your consent about this."
